Irish Environmental Network Newsletter Sept 2021

This months newsletter to local and national groups has been sent and can be viewed here:[UNIQID]

Please feel free to share any of the content with your members groups.

Of particular interest might be the upcoming Green Gathering which is focusing on Edible Communities. All are welcome to attend.

IEN next monthly Meet Up is for all SPC reps. It's an open discussion for reps to share their experiences and get support from others across the country. All reps from any pillar are welcome to attend, but there will be an environmental focus.

As well as these, there are upcoming events from Cloughjordan EcoVillage (Community Apple Festival), and online information sessions from the Department in relation to an open consultation for Mineral Extraction and Mining in Ireland.

VOICE are offering free schools programmes, are highlighting an exhibition on plastic waste, and are looking for a community in West Cork who wish to take part in Sustainable Community Training.

Finally, local groups in Monaghan are looking to spread the word about a large tourism development for Muckno Lough. Even though the proposal states that it is sustainable tourism, the development is a large scale, high impact tourism that had no public consultation beforehand. Local groups are asking for people to respond to the open consultation (deadline Sept 10th) and would like to invite people with an interest in creating a sustainable alternative to get involved in a local community led alternative.
