Do you have memories of industries that once operated in Westmeath?

If you or one of your family worked in a mill, forge, factory or any of the other industrial site in the County, then Westmeath Heritage Office would like to hear from you.

As well stories about working life we are seeking old photographs of these industrial sites. These memories and photographs will be part of a project to record the Industrial Heritage of Westmeath. Westmeath County Council with support from the Heritage Council has commissioned Archaeologist Antoine Giacometti to compile an inventory of Industrial Heritage Sites in Co. Westmeath.

Mr Giacometti worked on the Inventories of Industrial Heritage for counties Meath and Longford and will talk about the project at a Heritage Week event being held in the Grand Canal Warehouse Building in Kilbeggan on Wednesday 21st August 7:30-8:30pm.

If you would like to share your stories or photographs or if you would like to know more about this project contact Heritage@westmeathcoco.ie or call the Heritage Officer on 044 9332098.
