Description automatically generatedIreland’s Response to the situation in Ukraine: A webpage on the whole-of-Government response to the situation in Ukraine is now available at www.gov.ie/ukraine (and is updated regularly) which includes information on supports and services available to people arriving from Ukraine. You can find information below on the supports and services available:





Community Response Forums have been established in every local authority area across the country to coordinate local responses to the Ukraine crisis. Local statutory, community and voluntary groups around the country have been mobilising in recent weeks to welcome into their communities people who are fleeing Ukraine. As the new arrivals begin to settle in, each local authority has established a Community Response Forum to provide a co-ordination point for the Ukraine response in their area. National Play Day 2022: Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, recently announced that €93,000 has been approved to support National Play Day 2022. This funding has been distributed to all Local Authorities across the country.

This year National Play Day can take place on any day or a combination of days between 02 July and 09 July (inclusive) with a range of play events taking place in each county in Ireland throughout the first week of July.

The aim of National Play Day is to promote play opportunities for children and young people across the country, with this year’s theme being ‘All Play Together’.

Longford Westmeath CYPSC #PromotingPlay Social Media Campaign: In support of National Play Week which runs from 2nd – 9th July Longford Westmeath CYPSC will be promoting play in the early years each day next week commencing on this Saturday 2nd July. Keep an eye on their Facebook and Twitter pages for daily #PromotingPlay posts and tweets or to be included in the daily #PromotingPlay mailing list contact grainne.reid@cypsc.ie


LW CYPSC have also collated a ‘Promoting Play’ resource list from the many excellent resources available online.

This resource is a useful tool for parents and professionals alike.

Summer Stars 2022 | dlr LIBRARIESSummer Stars Libraries Ireland National Reading Programme: Summer Stars is the free national reading programme for children that takes place in all public libraries and online. The Summer Starts programme runs throughout the summer from 13th June until 31st August 2022.


All children throughout the country are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer. Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book/ eBook is regarded as having completed the programme – and it’s all completely free!
