Re: Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022, Mullingar.
A Chara, As you may be aware Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is coming to Mullingar on the 31st of July 2022. It is envisaged that Mullingar will host in the region of 450,000 visitors over the course of the 9 days. In order to facilitate this event safely, it will be necessary to pedestrianise certain areas within the town centre.
These road closures will apply from 10.00am on Sunday 31st July 2022 until 4.00am on Tuesday 9th August, 2022.
Please see map attached for streets affected by these proposed closures. Vehicular access to this area will be fully restricted during these times and parking will not be permitted on these streets. Vehicular access to the town centre will be allowed each morning between the hours of 4am and 10am, to facilitate servicing of businesses and access to shops, services etc. Any vehicles parked during this time must be removed from the town centre by 10am.
Unfortunately, any vehicles remaining in the town centre after this time will be towed by a licenced operator. Alternative car parks will be made available on the outskirts of Mullingar on a first come, first served basis which includes The Columb Barracks (orange overleaf).
Additionally, Council car parks outside of the pedestrianised zone (blue overleaf) will be operational as usual. Fleadh traffic will be diverted to specific car parks using traffic management signage. Westmeath County Council regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your co-operation on this matter.
