The end of peat cutting and the closure of associated enterprises is having a significant impact on communities in Co. Kildare, Westmeath and across the wider Midlands region.
To make the transition to a climate-neutral economy fair for everyone, we must support the communities most affected by these changes.
EMERGE is a new training and mentoring programme designed to empower communities in the wider Midlands region to meet the challenges posed by Ireland’s transition to a climate-proofed economy and resilient society.
Drawing on the region's unique heritage and resources, the programme will help the impacted communities take ownership of the new opportunities created by climate action, access funding, and own the economic, social and environmental future of the wider Midlands region.
This webinar will provide a detailed preview of the upcoming programme of work which will support 21 communities across eight counties (including Co. Kildare and Westmeath), between now and the end of 2023. This will include an overview of regional-level engagement to date, the type of support available and how EMERGE is focused on working with communities and partners to enable individual communities to progress key projects that they have decided upon and deemed important.
The session will then showcase examples of successful community projects from across the 8 counties, with guest speakers sharing their experiences. You will therefore have the chance to ask questions directly of people who have already delivered community projects and the EMERGE project delivery team.
Who is this webinar for?
