Celebrate the 13th National Carers Week in Ireland from June 10-16
National Carers Week - June 10th - 16th 2019
The 13th annual National Carers Week will take place from June 10th to 16th this year. Over 100 events will take place nationwide to celebrate and recognise the role of Ireland’s 370,000 family carers. In addition, hundreds of family carers are being provided with complimentary goodie bags that include battery/power banks, thermal coffee mugs and a Carers Handbook (the latter courtesy of the Irish Red Cross).
There are 12 not-for-profit partner organisations in the week, who alongside other organisations, will be hosting events specifically for family carers around the country. Partners this year are; Family Carers Ireland, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, the Irish Cancer Society, the Disability Federation of Ireland, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, MS Ireland, the Irish Hospice Foundation, St. Michaels House, Special Needs Parents Association, the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC), Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI) and co-ordinators Care Alliance Ireland.
The objectives of the week are three-fold:
- To raise awareness of family carers in our community
- To deliver events for family carers throughout the country
- To engage with family carers not yet availing of carer support services
