Over 60 WPPN members attended the Plenary Meeting in Bloomfield House Hotel on 16th April 2025. The evening began with attendees browsing the stands at the info-village. Later during the meeting they heard presentations from Paula O’Connor, Women’s Community Projects and Alison Hough, Westmeath Environmental and Climate Action Network (WECAN). The Plenary agree that a letter drafted by Alison be sent on behalf of the WPPN to the Minister for Transport and Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications, calling on government to engage in early and meaningful public consultations when creating a Social Climate Plan. The Plenary also approved the appointment of three new Secretariat members (Nick Linnane of Moate Town Team, Joe McEvoy of Athlone Canal Heritage Committee, Angela Locke-Reilly of AIRC Midlands) and one new WPPN Rep on the Board of Westmeath Community Development (Dave Raftis, Kinnegad Combined Community Employment Scheme). Special thanks were also given to the three long-serving members of the Secretariat who stood down (Hugh Farrell, Anne Drury, Dave Raftis).
